Dual-GPU GTX260 GX2 Officially Branded as GeForce GTX295

It?s an accomplished fact that GT200 graphics core is updated to be 55nm. We exposed the image of GT200 yesterday, though many people are doubtful about its truth. Anyway, everything will be clear sooner or later, and we believe our readers will have their own correct judgments.

Dual-GPU designed GeForce GTX260 GX2 graphic card will be officially named as GeForce GTX295. Apparently, GeForce GTX295 is coming to regain its dominance of performance which has been grabbed by AMD Radeon HD4870X2. It will utilize two GT200 of 55nm with 216 stream processors, and probably carry on dual PCB design. As of now, the frequency and memory are not known yet.

Good to see some progress out of the nvidia camp, just sorry its a dual card. I mean whats the MSRP? $400+? Maybe this also signifies a move to 55nm GPU's in general, lets hope at least.

** edit... I wonder what they are gonna do to cool this puppy... even with the die shrink there has to be some major heat coming off it

I guess it's too early to ask, but do you think that this card would beat two GTX 260 Core 216s in SLI? I might have to use my step-up for this card, but if the SLI is still better performance (albeit using up another PCI-E slot), I'll stick with that.

It will probably set a new record for power consumption and if they'll use a dual PCB design, all that heat will be dumped inside your case. Hot stuff. ;)

I doubt it, NV usually downclock slightly for heat thermals....so I would say 2 x 260 in SLI will be faster than GTX295
