i have an asrock motherboard 880gm-le that has an onboard hd 4250 that has supposedly advertised 2560x1600 dual-dvi support but i am only getting 1280x800. i used a older computer with 8600gt graphics card that works in that mode.
here's my bulletpoints:

-i have a hp 3065 30" monitor that has native 2560x1600 resolution.
-currently with the latest ati/amd drivers.
-using a dual link cable.
-i have used it successfully with other desktop setups in the recent past.

Asrock's video specs for your board:

- Integrated AMD Radeon HD 4250 graphics
- DX10.1 class iGPU, Shader Model 4.1
- Max. shared memory 512MB
- Dual VGA Output: Support DVI-D and D-Sub ports by independent display controllers
- Supports Dual-link DVI with max. resolution up to 2560x1600 @ 75Hz
- Supports D-Sub with max. resolution up to 2048x1536 @ 85Hz
- Supports HDCP function with DVI-D port
- Supports Full HD 1080p Blu-ray (BD) / HD-DVD playback with DVI-D port

Are you running it at 75 Hz or lower?

Have you tried another dual link cable?

Also, how much RAM do you have? The onboard video grabs up to 512 MB.

Finally, have you checked for BIOS and driver updates?

Don't know if any of that will resolve the problem, but it's worth asking. :)

im running 60hz right now.
havent tried a diff dual link cable because i dont have a spare, but have used it previously with a different dual link enabled desktop.

initially i set the shared memory to 512 mb's, and then changed it to auto. both settings did not change the resolution.

as for the bios it was 1.20 but i was having some issues and reverted it back to 1.0 and both versions did not make a difference.

my issue has been resolved!!!
i was able to self-diagnose the problem.
the answer to this problem in case anyone ever has this problem.
if you have an AMI BIOS, you have to disable the onboard HDMI audio under the advanced chipset configuration. i believe its probably sharing the same bandwidth/port somehow which caused the default value of only single link dvi view maximum resolution of 1280x800 instead of 2560x1600.
Now i have native resolution on my 30" monitor!
