Dual DVD burners in the same PC. Is it possible?

Thinking about upgrading my DVD-rom to a DVD burner with a new NEC-3550. If upgraded it'd become a 2nd burner in my system. The current Sammy DVD-rom is just way too noisy, BTW (see my sig)
How good is the new NEC-3550A vs the old NEC-3540A? specs looks almost identical
Is there any problem adding or having two burners in the same system. Appreciate any inputs.

Check at cdfreaks.com on info about the 3550. Modern IDE with the 80 conductor cable have no problems no matter the configuration you wish/want to use.

Yes it works but I find it too difficult to burn both at the same time unless you use corporate duplication software which I dont own.

I did have a CDR and DVDR combo for a while also and was able to burn CDR and DVD at the same time but not at full speeds simultaniously even from seperate hard drives. The limits really become the hard drive read speeds.

Really? I didnt know that. I Will have to check that out.

Wow I thought you needed the commercial versions of duplicator software.

look at my signature, only thing i would caution you on is to make sure you have a good power supply as they do suck up some juice

I've been using multiple DVD-RW's in 1 of my Rigs for sometime burning more then one Copies @ a time even with additional one running via the external route hooked up (USB/1394)...
