Has anyone here ever built a dual duron system befores. I'm thinking about building one for my home network to act as a file server and domain controller. Just wanted to know if you are pleased with the system. And if so what components did you use.

Watts3000,

I was considering doing this to make an affordable (very poor right now!) win2000 server box. I'd be interested to hear your findings or what route you decide to go.

Hey, if you had a dual Duron system, would it be known as Duron Duron? ;)

Sorry...I couldn't resist! :p

Another vote for 2CPU.COM, though. :)

I've been running a pair of Duron 1G on a TigerMPX for about 2 weeks now and haven't had any problems. I even have them running at 133fsb. It was risky but I cut the last L3 bridge with a box cutter on both processors then used a pencil to join the second L3 bridge to get a multiplier of 9. The processors now run at 1200Mhz (9*133) at default voltage. I tried running them at 10*133 but I can't boot into windows. Probably because I'm using the retail sinks. When I can afford it I'll get to volcano 7+ processors and try to up my fsb some more.

I just wanted some cheap chips for now until the T-breds come along and they are performing great. I just checked out an article at mods4me.com today to squeeze even more performance out of my memory. You prolly only need wpcredit if you have a Tiger MPX since I heard that the other boards are all tweakable.

My system is as follows.

Tiger MPX (non functioning usb)
Dual Duron 1G@1.2G
2 256mb Crucial PC2100 Unbuffered
Leadtek GF3 TI200
Some cheap ancient yamaha software sound card
Lite-on 24x burner
Pioneer 16X DVD
Enermax 330W
Adaptec 29160
Atlas 10KIII 18GB
IBM 18ES 18GB
WinXP Pro & Mandrake 8.2 dual boot

I should have a Santa Cruz by next week, I might get an IDE drive for storage and I'll upgrade the powersupply when I get more dough. I'm really taking my time trying to build a really fast system. It's taken me some time to get there but I'm almost done. The system is running fine so far with not 1 crash encountered so far. It feels great not having a VIA board anymore.

I thought the mpx chipset would not work with anything but mp chips.
RockyMaivia what do you plain on using your server box for. I'm trying to decide if I should let my 1800xp become one of my servers. And use the dual duron for a workstation.
