dual dual cores?

I believe you need a server level motherboard running the Pro version of the nForce chipset.. I can't recall which chipset...

Maximum PC built their latest dream machine with a Tyan board, that has two dual core logic chipsets... they used two dual core Opteron processors..

Each chipset gives the full PCIe bandwidth lanes to each PCIe 16x slot, so its a true 16X SLI...

It is not possible. However, you can certainly run dual-core Opterons in whatever configuration you please.

Which is basically the same as dual X2's,.. Opterons rock.. I like MSI's dually boards myself.

Can't forget Tyan and Iwill, but they are never cheap.

Socket-939 doesn't have the 2nd HyperTransport link required for CPU interconnect. You'll have to go for socket-940 and use Opteron 2xx series processors ... which are available in single- and dual-core.

thanks guys

i scored an x2 3800+ at frys for a really good deal this morning so i was just curious if i could do this since i already own that same processor
