I run two computers at my workstation, a desktop PC which has my email and generic software, and a laptop that runs some specialised software. To make life easier, I have a KVM switcher, so I can have both machines running off the same (large) display, and just switch between them with the push of a button. This has always worked really well, until I finally got sick of my laptop not having a sleep mode, and in an effort to try and fix it, I updated the video drivers on the laptop. D:
Previously, I'd plug the laptop into the KVM switcher and press the button. The display on the laptop would go blank, and the display would show up on my main monitor, right resolution and everything. Then when I switched back to the desktop machine, the laptop display would reappear on it's own screen.
Now, I can't get it to do that. If I tell the display "only show up on monitor 2", then when I switch back to the desktop, or unplug the KVM, the display doesnt switch back to the laptop. If I use "duplicate", my resolution is all wrong on both monitors and I can't seem to fix it. And if I use "extend", which I don't really want to do, it still doesn't detect when I unplug the KVM and so it still doesnt switch back to normal. This is really a problem for me, can anyone suggest anything I might try? The new package I installed was AMD VISION Engine Control Center. I tried going to hardware manager and rolling back the drivers, but Windows doesn't seem to realise I've installed new ones and the roll back option is greyed out. The graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 4300 Series and I'm using windows 7.
