Dual Displays hate me

I can't get my dual display setup to do anything i want, it only just annoys me as much as it can. I got my main monitor, and a TV in my room i use from time to time (when it works, which is never does lately). All i want to do is have my TV to kind of clone my monitor, but run at 800x600, while my monitor stays in 1280x1024 @ 100hz like it should. I've tried everything though lately and it's acting all retarded. No matter what i do my computer for some reason always uses my TV display as a side to side thing with my monitor. It just shows a big closeup of my desktop wallpaper on the TV screen no matter what resolution i put it in which isn't very useful, as you might of guessed. So it's like putting a whole different system on my TV for some reason. When i move my mouse off the right side of my monitor screen, it shows up on the TV and i can't do much there (besides right click and the like).

So i don't know why i can't get my TV working how i want it to. I used to be able to. It's just not working right lately for some reason. I've tried a slew of different programs too. ATI CCC unfortunately worked best for awhile, though it takes about 10 days to load up, then i can clone my monitor, but then my TV is in 1280x1024 too, which i don't want. So i uninstalled that a while ago. That's the closest i could get. Multimon and Ultramon don't serve me any purpose besides annoying me. Can't do what i want to do with Windows display managing window either. Can anyone help?...No? :p

Well obviously clone mode mandates identical resolutions, what else? The TV-out engine will scale whatever resolution is being fed back down onto NTSC standard resolution (640x480) [PAL is 768x576) anyway - thus, discussing the TV resolution is rather pointless anyway.

Your other options are Extended Desktop (independent resolutions, independent contents), or Theater Mode (video window duplicates fullscreen on TV-out).

(Besides, the expression is "might have", not "might of". Sentences that make sense help the readers understand. Thank you.)

The resolution is not fixed for my TV, if i change the resolution of my monitor, my TV will try to match it, even though it shouldn't be any higher than 640x480. But the problem lately is i can't even get my TV to display anything that is shown on my monitor. I don't think i can explain it any better than i did in my first post. Lately it can do nothing but try to set up the monitors as side-by-side monitors, which is not what i want, since my tv is on the other side of my room. Even if that was what i wanted it wouldn't work because it doesn't display correctly on my TV, it tries to use my TV as an independent monitor i guess, but it's zoomed in too far so i can't see or do anything with it. What i want is to at least have my TV clone my monitor, even though it would put the TV res too high and it would be annoying, at least it would be better than nothing. I know it's possible though, just can't get it to work with any program out there (including the windows XP display props window).

Trying a new program called ATI Tray Tools. This isn't working either. I don't know what the hell the problem is. This displays my TV as PAL-B. It detects my TV is connected, but it won't let me turn it on for some reason. I click the 'On' button, and then hit apply, and it goes back to off without ever being on in the first place. Grrr, i'm going to have to figure this one out myself aren't I? I hate those kinds of problems. Kinda weird my TV is being like this all of a sudden though. I think i'll try cleaning out all my vid drivers/software with driver cleaner and install them again, maybe I'll install Omega drivers this time.

I installed ATI CCC again but i couldn't get it to start, i'd just double click it and nothing would happen.

Your TV is not 'matching' anything, the signal is rescaled to a standard PAL output regardless of what it originally was...

Driver cleaner & then resinstalling your gfx drivers should solve the problem, i hope :)

Well, i cleaned the old drivers out and reinstalled everything. Now ATI CCC actually works (as in starts up) but still can't do what i want it to do. I can either choose extend, which puts the TV screen as if it were directly on the right side of my monitor (i move mouse off the right side of my monitor, it shows up on my TV, though i can't do anything on it since it's just a zoomed in picture of my wallpaper). Or i can choose clone, in which it tries to make my TV run in 1280x1024, which is annoying since i have to keep moving around everywhere. I guess I'll just have to set my monitor to 800x600 when i want to use my TV for something. Doesn't seem like i should have to be there is no other answer. Too bad i can't get my monitor and TV to run in different resolutions at once, somewhere along the way i lost the ability to do that for some reason.
