Hey guys, Using my IBM t43p with the Fireglv3200 to resolute on my aquos 45"

I have the VGA in my laptop and the VGA-DVI-DVI connected into my TV.

My laptop seems to see the monitor but cannot find proper resolutions for it, most probably since it's a widescreen

What do I do torectify this?

Thanks much!

I'd check on AVSForum and see if there is info on your specific TV.

Getting HDTVs to play nice with computers is not as easy as it would seem, at least if you want to run native resolutions. You may need to use something like Powerstrip to force resolution/timing settings that the monitor will accept.

Can you force it to 720p or 1080i mode in the drivers? I haven't tried it on a FireGL, but the regular ATI cards can do that through CCC.

That should at least get an output that the TV can recognize. Again, I recommend checking out AVSForum and seeing what they have to say about your model.

But my stupid video card won't take the ati.com drivers because of iBM stamping their name on it ... anyone have experience on doing it on desktop ATI's?

"VGA in my laptop and the VGA-DVI-DVI"

Can you explain what you mean by that?

You have VGA output on the laptop, right?

Are you saying the TV has a VGA input and two DVI inputs, or are you saying you have converters from VGA to DVI and then you're running DVI?

EDIT: problem confirmed over AIM.

For future reference for others - the reason DVI to VGA converters work is because the DVI-I outputs of videocards have the DVI-D signal as well as the VGA signal. You can just take the VGA off the DVI-I output easily.

Broly is trying to do VGA output from his laptop into a DVI input on the display.

EDIT2: ok, maybe not. Looking at a product page it seems the input is a DVI-I on the display.

EDIT3: needed to set display to analog PC input, now we're getting close

EDIT4: and 1280x720 is working
