Dual Display: One is very faint. Hardware? Drivers? ???

This is my work setup. I'm at home now. The drivers are the latest I'm pretty sure.

My setup is 3360x1050 with the task bar only on the left "main" screen.

That screen (the DVI connection) is faint. I have tweaked the monitor settings to no avail. Ironically the VGA (with DVI Adapter) to the DVI of the second monitor has a good display with bold colors.

Is it that my 8500 GT is just too weak to send out two full displays? At first I thought it must be the VGA->DVI conversion but that is the one with the good display.

Any ideas? And if I need a new card, how "high-end" does it have to be?

Thanks all

Have you tried swapping the connections since the monitors are identical?

That way you can rule out cable or port

not yet
just set this up

will try that on Monday

Well I hope it's a cable and not the card but most of all that I resolve this even if it means a new card.

I could not find this question of 'dual display quality with a single card' through google for the life of me.

When you're new to a something (in this case dual display) it's just great when you post and someone sees the issue immediately.

I'll swap cables on Monday
