dual display adapter

I decided to plug in a second monitor into my Radeon 9600 using the digital plug(with the for wholes in shape of squire) at the back of the card. I have a little adapter that sends the digital plug into an analog plug. will this do any damage to my board because im using an adapter to turn digital plug into analog?

thanks

The connector is probably a DVI-I type. This connector has both pins for both digital and analog data. Normaly it passes digital data to the DVI input on a LCD monitor. With the adapter it accesses the analog VGA data and works like a normal VGA output for either a CRT or LCD monitor. The adapter does no conversion at all since all the data is already available.

yea its The Dvi. the one with the square on the left with 4 holes. but using an adapter wont do any damage at all? even if im taking the Dvi and turning it into an analog, so i can use it like the input right beside it (the one you always plug your monitor into).

thanks for your help
