Dual Degree?

Should I go for a dual degree? I'm considering doing both finance and econ, even if it takes a semester or two more.

Anyone done who has done this, do you think you benefitted from it?
 
I did it - Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science...definitely makes you very flexible. Because of possible downsizing at my current command, I'm currently looking for a new job and I have been getting interviews from both fields.
 
If you are willing to put the time and effort into it, go for it. It can only be beneficial in the long run (versus only having one degree).
 
more education never hurts. (in your situation)

the only time "more" education hurts is if you go to a specific masters/phd program and that will surely narrow down the niche of jobs.

im presently doing it. at first i just wanted to double major but technically, since i had some free college classes that i got payed to take, i ended up with 30+ extra hours so i qualify for dual degree. poly sci and econ. i'd imagine it would help alot.
 
Go for it, just make sure your grades don't suffer with too much work! Finding a second major that doesn't take much longer gets a big :thumbsup:. If you had said more than a year, I'd suggest that it wasn't worth your time.

that's why i think it'll help you in your job hunt because it shows to the employer, the fact that you show up for the interview, "that which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." ergo, the simple fact that you're there means you're determined. win win

I'm not worried about the extra course load, I can handle it. I've also considered a dual degree in Econ + Comp Sci, partly because a BS requires quite a few Comp Sci courses, and it's somewhat mroe specialized.

I'm probably going to go for a masters afterwards no matter what, not sure if it'll be right after, or a few years after.

I'd rather not with Accounting, and I know a few people who are graduating or have graduated with Econ & Finance from my school and have had some very high paying jobs right after graduation.
