Hi,
I am about to purchase the components for 2 new systems. I am going with the AMD 1700+, Epox 8RDA+, and 512MB Ram, along with some of my other components. Here's a couple questions:

1) Can i use the Dual DDR technology with the 1700+ processor? A TBred B core isn't required to utilize the Dual DDR stuff, is it?
2) What kind of a performance increase will i notice if using Dual DDR, compared to not using Dual DDR (using just (1) 512MB stick)?

Thanks for the information,
HP

Its not the CPU that you have to have to run Dual Channel DDR, but yet the board. The only AMD Dual Ch. DDR is the nForce (1 and 2).

The performance will not be huge as AMD does not have the bandwidth issues the P4 needs.

So get a nForce2 board and 2 slabs of 256mg and you should be good to go.

OK, i thought the CPU had something to do with it as well. Thanks for setting me straight.

Another question. I got to thinking about it a little bit. How much of a performance increase will i see using Dual DDR, instead of just 1 stick? Reason is this, later on down the road if i upgrade my one system, I would use the ram from my system and stick it in the other 1700+ system. If i get 4 sticks of 256, that means i could only fit 768 in the other system (Epox 8rda+ only has 3 slots i believe). Whereas if i just got 2 sticks of 512 for both systems now, i could fit 1024 in the other system when i upgrade my system later, and get new ram for my system.

So, if I'm not going to see a substantial performance increase, i really dont see the need for Dual DDR ;)

Just give me an idea of what were talking here. Thanks again.
