Dual CPU switching app ?

I'm running Win2K server using 1 CPU ... When I upgrade my motherboard which uses 2 CPU ... is there any program that'll allow me to change from single CPU to Dual CPU ?

I don't really wanna re-install Win2K server!!! 😉

I went through the same thing, couldn't find a way to do it without reinstalling. The problem is it installs a uniprocessor kernal. That needs to be replaced by a multiprocessor kernal. I'm not sure if there are any other files that need to be replaced. Good luck, if anyone else knows how to do this I would also be interested.

shouldn't you be able to just install the multprocessor kernel? i've seen this done a couple of times, but sometimes hiccups can incur.

Don't know about Win2K, but for NT4 there was a little program called uptomp.exe (upgrade to mulitprocessor) that came with the NT Server Resource Kit, but could probably be found elsewhere also. See if there's something similar on the MS site for Win2K.

there was an article about it a while back at toms. I'll see if i can find it for you...

TOom's site seems to be down at the moment so i'll update wheni find it. There is a way to do it thouhg without reinstalling.

WOW! Thats great. Mainly because I am expecting my Second PIII-550 processor any day now for my Dual Q-Lity Motherboard and Win2k Server. Makes things much easier than re-installing Win2K. Just went through that with the Motherboard Upgrade.
