HI,

This is a really nice forum for computers.

Can someone here tell me which is the best motherboard with dual CPU pentium based.
I want to use it for Linux database server.
I also want to have atleast 2Gb ram and a gigabit lan card.

Can someone tell me any motherboard?

Do you want to build a dual-Pentium3? The Pentium4 is not dual-capable, although the similar Xeon is. Welcome to the Forums 🙂

I saw a few sites and came to know abt p4 not available in dual.
Wht is ur opinion abt the dual Athlon cpu on linux.

Does it work properly and any other issues?

The dual Athlon works with Linux and other non-Windows operating systems. Some of the dual-Athlon motherboards require unusual power supplies, and all of them should be used with at least a 400W high-quality power supply. I see you live in India. Do you know if your dealer carries Enermax or Sparkle Power power supplies, because they are good-quality brands. 🙂

Some of the dual-Athlon motherboards that use standard ATX power supplies include the Asus A7M266-D (link) and the Tyan TigerMPX (link). These Forums run on dual-AMD systems, and they are used by Industrial Light & Magic in their render farms, to generate the recent Star Wars movies, so they are tested in the real world.
