dual cpu install question

Boonesmi

Lifer
i have a server running a dual opteron board with a single opteron. im thinking of adding a second cpu.

i know that i should do a new installation of the os, but i want to know if i can get around having to do that?

im running winxp pro

tks for any info

UPDATE

ok, wow that was easy. 🙂
i just installed the 2nd cpu. windows booted up and recognized the new cpu and installed it, then asked me to reboot.

after the reboot i opened a bunch of apps and got them working. then i checked cpu usage. both cpu's are shown, and they seem to be sharing the load pretty even.

A repair install should do it, if you need to do it at all.
