I just built5 my first dual core system(AMD X2 6400), I hate to sound like a noob but is there a way to check to see if both cores are being utilized? Im running xp pro with sp2 and all the updateds.

Yup, click alt-ctrl-del and open up the task manager, go to the performance tab, and you'll see how much of each core is being used.
