Hey all - I've been running into a lot of problems lately trying to unarchive .rars and .zips. I have a 4400+ and I was wondering if this could be the culprit. If not, any suggestions on extracting the files successfully? Thanks!

Hmm... I haven't had any other problems that might be related to RAM, but I'll give that a try later tonight. Also, I made some of my own archives and unextracted them, which worked flawlessly. Am I simply just receiving corrupt packages? Can someone send me a .rar or .zip filled of dummy files so i can see if i can extract them? thanks!

I've seen some posts regarding corrupt files and the active armor/firewall with suggestions to not install it.

This is a good hint. The firewall on nforce4 mobos corrupts files that have been transfered by FTP. Downloads via HTTP or Windows CIFS/SMB is not affected. Nvidia is aware of the problem.

hmmm... that sucks! so should i remove active armor/firewall? I don't have any other firewall in place...

YES REMOVE THE NFORCE FIREWALL!!!!! It was corrupting EVERY big download I tried. From newsgroups, FTP links, HTTP links, ect ect.

I didn't even have the firewall running, I only had the SOFTWARE installed. I set it to use windows firewall.

So.... COMPLETELY REMOVE anything to do with this nvidia firewall.

I've been using it for several years. It's free and it tells you when a program is trying to access the Internet. On download.com you'll see there's millions of downloads of it.
