I usually use Prime 95 however I am curious if there is any program that does well for stress testing for dual core. Tried Prime 95 but it only uses one core.

Simply run two instances of Prime 95. One for each core. To do this, make two shortcuts to prime 95 on your desktop. Right click on one of the shortcuts, and in the target area, after the text, type -a1. This should allow you to open both at once. Quake 4 with the latest patch is SMP aware, Photoshop is SMP aware. SMP programs are out there, you just have to look for them.

Another good test is SNM 1.51 which is SMP aware...long test 100% with all tested and it should take 90-100min....It will hit the highest temps you will ever see...has error count...

While prime95 is nice, I will say it again....it should not be considered the only test to prove stability...

I would do this...

run 12hour runs of
small FFT
Large FFT
blended

overnight memtest (dos version) all test including extended

Then I would run 1 instance of pirme for 8 hours with 3dmark looped

Then I usually run at least 1 test of 3-4 hour 2 pass encoding apps (Divx or Xvid...AutoGK and/or TMPGenc)

Then I usually start running Folding at Home and if I go a full (24/7) week with no Early End Units (EEUs) I call it rock stable....
