Dual core Pentium Presler XE runs fine at 4.26GHz

Watch the mainboard overclocking (or as they call it at Intel, "Configuration override") settings - you got everything from (fully working) CPU multiplier changes up and down, all possible voltage changes, FSB settings up to 1333 MHz, even FSB bus voltage settings! And remember, all that from the company that, well, designed those CPUs and chipsets in the first place - they should know their limits best...

An OC'ing Intel mobo.... Sweet... 🙂

he's talking about straight up CPU MHz. AMD has been inching upwards over the last 2 years, while Intel has been stagnant.

theoretically, a x2 at 2.7 should be able to match 4.26 anyways.

That?s what I meant if Intel lets AMD get close to same speed they have then there would be no reason for John Doe (who knows next to nothing about cpus) to get Intel if AMD has same Ghz "speed" that still Intel's main selling point that and L2 cache .

So this is 'fine"
the system also rebooted to BIOS fine several times at this setting.

windows? Benchmarks? Prime? hah.

Not to mention that's still slow compared to stock x2's Need I remind y'all just how damn slow it was at 3200Mhz? Losing by 50% or more in some tests? Losing to a 3800 stock in majority of tests?

Take this chart add 25% to every intel score accounting for the 25% increase in clock speed shown in this overclock. Benchmarks never scales that well/linearly with clock speed, but lets give intel all we can - it still will not beat a stock 4600/4800+ globally speaking.

90C!!! LOL, Now lets try in case, not on a wide open bench. Intel may have a lock on the ceramic heater market before years end.

I totally agree with Zebo. Presler hasn't been shown to be any faster clock per clock than Smithfield. So what if it's 4.26 ghz? Smithfield has already been shown to need to be running at about 4.4 to 4.5 ghz to hang with an overclocked x2 3800+. An x2 3800+ at 2.5-2.6 ghz will still smoke a 4.26 ghz Presler at a much lower cost AND cost-of-ownership.

If they ever get a Yonah chip running at 4.26 ghz, wake me.

Or even 3 Ghz it will be really fast and competitive. over 4 would be insane with that architecture.. does'nt mean much with netburst however. Like putting some Asics Nimus 7's on a special Olympiad - I could still beat him running backwards with cowboy boots on.

yes with netburst people have got 7ghz with Extream cooling.
