my home computer is a x2 proc but when I check cpuz on my work computer ,it listed as single core but the windows task manager has to cpu usgae screens like when im on my x2 at home. anyone know what gives?
thanks!

Sorry, you've got a dual core AMD CPU and CPU-Z thinks it's a single core (which dual core and which single core). However when you open up task manager you get two performance graphs as you do with your other dual core (somewhere).

what? That made no sense to me.

to the OP - It sounds like you're asking what kindof processor your work computer is? because you're used to seeing two cpu's in task manager but cpuz only see's one? At least thats what i get from your question... your work PC is probably a P4 with hyperthreading - check properties on my computer and you'll see what kindof cpu it is(or cpuz should tell you for that matter)

lol its all good 🙂 OP you may want to clarify what exactly you are asking 🙂 we're not mind readers here. 😉

2 different computers.
my home is a x2, windows task manager shows to processors.cpuz shows 2 cores

work computer p4, should be single core but it has the same 2 windows. cpuz shows single core.

why would windows task manager show to diferent windows for a single core?

Ah, in which case Mellman was spot on.

Some P4s had something called hyperthreading. For some reason it fools software into thinking it's got two cores and can speed up processing (don't ask me how it all works, i just know it does). It's not as good as dual core but it did come out a fair bit earlier as well.
