Dual Core Opteron For PreOrder

yep you might be better off geting two 2.6gh Opetrons they are like $863 each. That is more speed for less $ and you wont have to worry about how the dual cores handel the memory.
 
I remember you we are talking about dual cores.

For example, build a 4-way server:

1º option

4x Opteron 846 2,2GHz: $2,708

2º option

2x DC Opteron 275 2,2GHz: $2,598

Which one is cheaper?
 
Except I doubt many people are buying an 8-way processor to use in a single cpu system, Wickedone. This processor theoretically lets you build a 16core system for a total of 35.2ghz in cpu's.

hmmm I had a mistake with prices. The correct example:

1º option

4x Opteron 848 2,2GHz: $3,388

2º option

2x DC Opteron 275 2,2GHz: $2,598
 
yes Dual core is expensive so is ruing more than 1 CPU but at this time it looks like ruing 2 cpu's is a better choice than a dual core. You can get more speed if you want it runing a 2 cpu platform overe a Dual core platform, You can also get better feature's on a singel CPU MB for a lot Less than a Dual CPU MB. I think with the Issue Dual cores may have with the memeory controler It may be best to see if the Issue realy exist if so wait for a new MB with a new Chipset to fix this. If Dual core or a Multi CP platform is to much for some one at this time just get a DFI ultra and a New Venice core AMD 64 3200 when they come out and over clock the crap out of it, untill you can aford the new platform and can justify the need for it.
