Hyperthreading is cool too!
No, it is decidedly uncool. Sorry...try again.

Been doing everything in this topic with my 3.4c long before any of these dual core CPUs have been available. So sorry, you try again.

I wonder which would encode faster while playing a CPU intensive game...hmm...3.4c or.... Dual Core....

I'm not saying my almost 3 year old CPU can match a dual core, but to say HT is crap, is just stupid.

Two CPUs is always better than one. Crap that locks up one full cpu will take forever to get out of on a single cpu, but is no problem for 2.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with all four of mine in my dual 265 system.

I'[m encoding soem files to NERO Digital to put on my iPod, and i can hardly notice a slow-down.

I can do the same stuff as efficiently on a single core CPU. Dual core only comes into play when you are actively using more than two CPU hungry applications, otherwise dual core is useless. EDIT, unless of course the application supports SMP, but very few currently do.

Don't tempt me! I'm not gonna upgrade my old ass Barton 3200+ until AMD comes out w/ DDR2 chipset and new socket mobo.
