Dual core is so nice...

Ya dual core is bliss. I love my X2 3800 more than humanly possible.

PS. Gaming is something I leave to consoles, they are cheaper than Vid cards and have less problems.

Rev it up and game your nads off, stud.

I concur 🙂

I might also add that this is the exact reason dual core processors don't always seem better on the surface. They usually aren't faster in terms of raw speeds, but when you start doing multiple tasks at once, they cruise.

My dad has one...I wish AMD would come out with their DC for laptops...Just wait until the beginning of 2006, then my lappy will OWN!!!

My X2 4400 @ 4800 speeds makes burning, encoding, playing and browsing very nice. Then along with my dual 7800 gts and dual monitors, well the dual theme continues! 🙂

Try DivX Helium if you want to encode twice as fast. Then set the affinity of the encoder on Low. Now it'll encode nearly twice as fast and you can still use your computer for general usage without a slowdown. Let the Windows scheduler handle it.

My A64 3000+ is more then fast enough for me. 😀

Amen, I have no use for a dual core rig, my 3000+ suites me fine & is still incredibly fast for me.

Tis what I thought, but watching videos and encoding and browsing would get sluggish...dual core alleviates that. 🙂

Hyperthreading is cool too!
No, it is decidedly uncool. Sorry...try again.

Been doing everything in this topic with my 3.4c long before any of these dual core CPUs have been available. So sorry, you try again.

Dual core is like dual monitor. You say you don't need it, but once you get it, you can't go back.

I wonder which would encode faster while playing a CPU intensive game...hmm...3.4c or.... Dual Core....

Bingo, I can't imagine no dual monitors, winamp video on one, browsing on the other...so nice.
