Dual Core Concept

I was thinking about dual core CPUs and how much harder they are going to make programming. Would it be possible for an operating system to do the processor allocation, so that programs would only have to deal with "one" CPU? It seems like such an operating system would be quite a task to create, however it might save programming headaches in the future. Most likely this is all impossible, but anyway I was just thinking.

might be possible...but it seems to be a lot more easier for the drivers to do it. Look up some results on the beta drivers for nvidia that are multi-threaded....
