Dual-Core Athlon 64 X2 4400+, 4600+ and 4800+ model numbers!!

I hope they arent much more than the Pentium D. But I don't think they are going to be as cheap as Intels.

The 4200+, 4400+, 4600+ and, wait for it, the 4800+.
These are 2.2GHz frequency processors with 2x512K cache for $537, and the same with 2x1MB for $581. A 2.4GHz CPU with 2x512 cache will set you back $803, and $1001 for 2x1MB. (the INQ)

Not much of a bargain I guess.

i'm under the impression that AMD is planning on being very aggressive with its dual core line, and it sounds like they are not going to be too expensive. Probably quite a bit of price guaging initially, but if Intel gets cheap PDs out the door, I'm just about positive AMD will do the same with its X2 line.

Also, isn't AMD's dual core line a shared cache architecture? I think the 1MB cache is shared by both cores. I sure hope that's the case, cause that's what the REAL competition, Yonah, is gonna have.

According to the Anand review, in the future, all AMD 939 CPUs will be dual core and at that point you'll see their prices fall to single core levels.

I was planning on skipping Venice for a dual core later this year for audio mixing, but, at $500 I'll go with a Venice and move to a dual dual-core opteron setup when prices drop.

My Guess

Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.0 GHz

Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.2 GHz

Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.4 GHz

Anyone care to guess the prices?

As usual according to AT the register has it wrong....remember AT has to get that farce of a PR rating in there...Where is Zebo can't claim the cache is going to help the games enough here...

4800+ is 2.4ghz, 1mb per cpu 2mb total
4600+ is 2.4ghz, 512kb per cpu 1mb total
4400+ is 2.2ghz, 1mb per cpu 2mb total
4200+ is 2.2ghz, 512kb per cpu 1mb total
