Dual Core and XP Home

My step-father just picked up a Dell Dual Core Laptop with XP Home. I was under the impression that XP Home was limited to one processor (technically it is one CPU with 2 Cores). Just curious if he's getting all he can with XP Home.

Thanks.

Home is limited to one CPU socket. Since the Dual Core chips or the Hyperthreaded chips are two CPU's on a single socket or two logical CPU's on one socket (HT) you are fine.

So yes, he's fine.

It's actually, as TonyRic notes, based on socket. Dual core CPUs contain two physical CPUs, not two logical CPUs.

And if it is a dual core CPU with HT, there are two physical cpus and 4 logical ones all in one socket, meaning it will work with XP Home.
