Ok, I am a bit confused here. I think that something like the E2200 can work with the IP35-E. But the CPU is rated as Dual-Core and the Mboard does not have Dual-Core listed in the specs. Now is Dual-Core just a term for all Processors running 2. Or is it an actual spec? The terminology between Dual-Core and Core 2 Duo is really started to mess my head up. Sorry for the newb question. Any help would rock. Thanks.

IP35-e will run a e2200 just fine, thats one thing I know for sure. I think in this case they mean dualcore cpu's, basicaly cpu's with 2 cores, instead of 1. Core 2 Duo or Core Duo are codenames for Intel CPU's.

Dual-core is a general term for any processor with two cores. The Core 2 Duo is a dual-core processor. Meanings of the term core.

Abit says that board will "Support Intel® Core? 2 Extreme/Duo/Quad processors with 1333/1066/800MHz FSB". You should be fine.

The E2xxx series are marketed as an "Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor" vs "Intel Core 2 Duo Processor". I suspect that sacco20 is simply tripped up on the naming.

Sacco20, what specs are you looking at for the motherboard? If you check ABITs website the IP35-E does in fact list the "Dual-Core" family. You'll be fine with the E2200. I'm running an E2200 in my ASUS P5K-E/WiFi-AP and have no complaints, especially considering the price.

Wow, I thought for sure this would have been explained better, but here we go.
Core2 is just the name of the arcitecture of the chip/silicon. Like how intel called their chips pentium for so long, replace pentium w/ core2.
MOST core2 chips are dual core however in some laptops they have a single core core2 cpu.
Pentium Dual-Core has a core2 cpu (not a pentium netburst chip [pentium D]). Pentium Dual-core is basically the celeron of the core2 world (however they have an actual celeron core2 now). Celeron's are the same cpu but have smaller cache's. Pentium dual-core's have 1MB L2, Core2Duo's have 2 or 4MB. The new celerons have 512K.

Yes the E2200 will work w/ the IP35-E.
