dual core AMD upgrade?

Ermmm, what's your current system like ?

It might not be worth it you know. Of course it depends on what you intend to do with it.

Yes, what does the rest of your system look like? And what do you plan on doing with your system (i.e. why the upgrade)?

If I'm not mistaken, the 170 is 2.0ghz and the 4400+ is 2.2ghz. Both should overclock well, if you're planning on doing that. But for $6, flip a coin. In fact, save almost $50 more and grab an X2 3800+ and overclock it. You likely won't miss the lower cache, again, depending on what you'll be using it for.

If you plan on overclocking I'd say go with the Opteron because they tend to clock a bit higher then X2's... if you are going to run at stock speed then go with the 4400+.

I found a seller on here for $200 shipped he sold me a 170 with a 3year warranty, and XP-120, and a yate loon 120mm fan..so I bought that.

she currently has a 3000+ venice core..and she plays the sims 2 a lot, and her cpu is always maxed out...so she wants the ability to run more programs simultaneously.

her system specs are:
Asus A8N-E
2 GB Corsair DDR 3200
Seagate 250GB SATA
EVGA 7600GT KO PCI-E Video Card
Antec case and 400w psu.
