Dual Coppermine with Slotkets on MB with old voltage regulators ?

Hi !

I have a dual pIII-Mainboard, that officially can only run
CPUs up to 600 Mhz (pIII-Katmai) because the mainboard only
supports voltages as low as 2.05 Volt. The new Coppermine-Cpus
require 1.65 Volt. One possibility to run the new Coppermine-
Cpus on this old mainboard could be using the new Slotkets (i.e.
Abit or Iwill) that have voltage regulators on the Slotkets so
I can adjust the needed voltage. The problem is that most of
these Slotkets doesnt support dual configuration, even though
the manufacturers of the Slotkets say so. So my question is:
does anybody use Dual FC-PGA PIII on Slotkets, and does it
work ? I cant use the original Slot-1 CPUs as I need the new
voltage regulators the run the CPUs. I have already contacted
my mainboard manufacturer, they said they tried the Slotkets
currently on the market and it doesnt work, but it seems like
there is a way to get around it with soldering some cables on
the slotkets (look here:
http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/reviews/1673/2
). So, anybody running two FC-PGA PIII (not celerons !) on
Slotkets ? Which Slotkets do you use ? What about stability ?
Would be glad for some feedback before I finally order my two
new CPUs.

Regards,
quattro

I know for a fact that the MSI slotket can support dual coppermines. Also, a good bios update will solve that problem. Or, it may fix itself as my motherboard automatically reset down to 1.65 volts. But, don't try it out as it may fry your cpu.

I personally love my MSI slotket, it is stable and it seemed to lessen the amount of freezes i was having at the time.

P.S.- I see some AMD zealots around the corner about to try and talk you into an AMD. Resist the dark side.
