Dual-Channel

I've got a stick of Crucial branded double-sided PC3200 in my system and now want to make it into a dual-channel system (mobo supports this).

I was going to buy a stick of single-sided Crucial PC3200, but was told that it has to be of the double-sided variety to work properly in dual-channel mode with maximum benefit.

I know that it MAY work ok as it is the same brand, same CAS & same amount of RAM, but the voltage might be slightly different I believe.

Is it worth spending slightly more and getting the EXACT same double-sided RAM to be sure?

If you want the best possible chance of getting those pieces of RAM to play nice together in dual channel, then yes, you should spend a bit more.

I, for one, have had success mixing RAM in dual channel, but I hear its not true for others. I wouldn't take the risk and just go for the exact same RAM sticks to be sure. =)

I have an Abit KV7.

ive mixed geil and ocz in dual channel and it worked fine.

But to answer yor question go with the exact so you do not have any problems.
