Dual Channel vs more RAM ?

I am still confused after reading all the discussion🙁

Here is my question..........(On P4 System)

Which one will be faster? "Dual" channel 2X256MB, or "single" channel 768MB (1X512 + 1X256)?

thanks,

It depends what you will be doing...though I would probably say, especially on a P4 rig, to go for 2x256 🙂

Confused

If less than 768 is going to cause you to swap a lot, then the 768 will be faster. But if you're thinking of getting 768 "just in case," then I would get the dual channel 512.

LMAO...reading comprehension dude....

On a p4 system, definitely spring for the dual channel. You'll notice that more than you would an extra 256MB.

There is no magical yes or no answer. Do you *need* more than 512MB? If so, then the more ram will be faster. If you don't, then dual channel will be faster.
