Dual Channel RAM

Hello folks

Over the last few weeks I've rebuilt my PC

P5Q Deluxe
Q6600
GTX 260
Enermax 82+ 625W
Couple of new F1 Spinpoints

And

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK)
http://overclockers.co.uk/show...t.php?prodid=MY-023-GS

Running Vista 64 Bit

I know that Windows Experience doesn't really mean much, but I have 5.9 across the board apart from 5.3 on the memory. What's going on?

Why the drop? I've ran CPU-Z and the memory screen says that it's DDR3 ??? and Channels # is Single. Any thoughts? Just a bit confuzzled.

Thank you in advance.

Which slots do you have the memory installed? If it's slots 1 and 2, then try moving the memory in slot 2 to slot 3. That should the configuration for dual channel on Asus boards. That is the only issues that I can think off the top of my head. Also, DDR2-800 gave me a 5.3 on my vista score for memory as well. Try overclocking the memory and that might work as well.

I would not place any value on the Vista memory rating. I have seen too many ambiguous posts describing odd ratings. And, so far no one I have asked can tell me what criteria it uses.

My mobo is YellowA BlackA, YellowB BlackB. So, i swapped the module thingy from BlackA to YellowB. Now get 5.6. Memory now showing up as Dual (Symmetric) in CPU Z. So it's made some difference. Thank you all 🙂
