Not sure if this is the right section to post this but anyway..
I amnot quite sure about what's a dual channel ram is? Anyone can tell me?

I havea P4 HT 3.0Ghzwith Intel mobo (D865Perl) which I believe support dual channel ram.
I have a 512Mb PC-3200 ram installed and lately my computer is a not performing as fast as before -since I installed an additional160 HD hard drive. My question is,will it increase my computer performance if I get another 1x512 mb ram? Do I have to get an identical ram as the one I have currentlyto make the dual channel thing work?

Thanks whoever you are.. 😀

Your ram sticks need to be identical (as close as possible) to run dual channel, you should really check the MB manual to see if your memory is supported. One of the "dual channel" memory kits is really the best way to go, but if you get an exact match of the memory you have now, chances are it will work.

As to your performance issue, I seriously doubt that another 512mb of ram in dual channel or not is going to fix that. It's possible, but given the information we have, there is no way to say for sure.
