Dual channel ram question on a Pentium M Dothan 1.86 Laptop

I just picked up a Dell 6000 and need to upgrade the 512mb DDR2 stick. I was going to get a 1gig stick and add that for 1.5gig ram. Then I remembered reading a while back that the P4 benefited from dual channel ram, I've been using A64 desktops for a while and I know dual channel is not a big factor with AMD.

So my question is would my Pentium M lappy benefit more from the dual channnel 2x512mb or adding a 1 gig stick for 1.5gig? (I know 2x1gig would be the best case but thats not going to happen right now)

In most applications dual channel will give a negligible performance increase. I'd rather have 1.5GB vs. dual channel.
