Dual Channel ram...is it worth it?

I curently run a single stick of 512 mb PC 2700 on a ASUS A7N8X-DX .
Want to know if I should upgrade for another 512 to gain dual channel. I can have 512 Hynix or Infineon PC 2700 for 90$CAN, is it worth it since I dont have many use for 1gig of ram.
 
Depends on what you do. Anand did a comparison on the nforce2 and got up to 17% increase in performance in some programs. Average is about 3%-5% though. I added another stick and have not regretted it at all.

You'll notice a more significant boost from going from 512 to 1024 MB RAM than the dual channel memory itself. Since you already have a dual capable board though, why not get the small boost it gives?
