Hi. If anyone can lend me some assistance it would be much appreciated. I recently upgraded my box, pretty much eveything new except the video card. My specs are:
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Radeon 9600
Geil Dual Channel module 2 x 512mb sticks.
2 Hard drives
LG DVD drive and LG CD rom drive.
550W Power supply
Windows XP SP2
I have updated the MB bios with the lastest verion (version 7) and also have the most recent drivers for my CPU and graphics card.
My problem is when I plug both my ram sticks in for dual channel mode, I get blue screen crashes, around one per day. I tested my ram with Memtest, and in dual channel mode it comes up with around 5 errors when it has only scanned about 20% of the coverage. I have tested each stick individually and both test Ok with no errors. (up to 100% coverage). The errors only happen in dual channel mode. Right now, I'm only using one stick and my system is stable, so I think the crashes may be RAM based. I have emailed Gigabyte about my RAM probs, and they said they don't know beacase there are so many types of RAM on the marklet they can't test them all.
Does anyone know why my RAM would show errors on Memtest when both plugged in, but individually they are ok? I really want to use my other stick for dual channel. Thanks in advance for any advice. If you need additional system information I'll get it.
