Dual Channel or More Memory

i have a laptop with 2 gb of dual channel memory. I want to upgrade to 3 gb (1GB and 2GB) but I would lose dual channel. I don't want to spend money 4GB because Windows won't see it all. Would I benifit from the 3 GB more than dual channel.

It's an Asus G2S and is capable of 4 GB. Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2G ,
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. Is three gb better than two with dual channel

That cpu has an 800mhz fsb. If you have 667mhz memory, you are most likely better off with 3GB of ram if you are actually utilizing that much memory.

actually the laptop is my sons and he plays games Medal of Honor Airbone is the latest. So mostly games, Photoshop, internet, AOL instant, Skype and the usual sometimes all at the same time. So 3 would be better than two dual channel.
