Dual Channel Only?

When a motherboard says they have dual channel Dimm slots, does that mean you must buy RAM in pairs, like two 256? Or can I get away with just a single stick of 512?

You can use one stick, it'll just run in single channel mode...

Yep, although dual channel mode gives a healthy boost to performance on P4s.
