Dual channel not working?

For some reason I can't get dual channel to work. I installed two sticks of 512MB of
crucial brand, same speed, DDR 266 in slot 1 and 3. and that didn't work.
I then tried them in slot 2 and 4 but that didn't work either. Any clues?

Mobo - Aopen AX4SPE max II, 865PE chipset.

There is nothing in the manual about dual channel, but it does support dual channel.

If your memory controller on your mobo supports dual channel and you have identical sticks of PC3200 RAM than it will work automaticly.

PC 2100 ram is not dual channel ram as far as I know.
