Dual Channel Memory vs Single Channel Memory?

I just built a 2.4c computer with p4p800 motherboard and 1024 pc3200 geil value ram. Everything is working perfectly now, but I just got cpuid and it says my bus speed is 799 mhz (not 800). It also says my dual channel ddr ram is working on single channel. I put in 2 512mb chips.

1. Is my Bus speed normal at 799?

2. Whats the difference between single channel and double channel activated memory? and which is better

3. If double channel is better, how do I activate it?

Thanks I really appreciate it.

Dual channel is better. The mobo manual will tell you which slots to put the ram into to acheive this. I would guess 799 is ok. A bad number would be far less.

799 would be fine, even normal, speeds are usually rounded up inadvertising and such since 799mhz sounds awkward and really is probably every bit as good as you having that one extra mhz. dont you think?

my athlon 750 was being shown as 748mhz in wcpuid...no biggie, whats 2mhz now a days?
