Dual channel memory question!

I am going to buy a shuttle xpc(SB61G2). Trying to find dual channel memory.
Does it have to say "dual memory" in the description for it to work?
Will just crucial ddr400 memeory work in dual channel?

It doesn't have to say "dual channel" for it to work as dual channel.

Actually for RAM to really work in a Dual Channel board they need to be matching sticks of RAM. If you just order 512 MB of ram then chances are they aren't going to match. So you should go for the memory that says either matching sticks or made for Dual Channel Memory.

what exactly do they mean by "matching"? I bought two single sticks of Kingston PC2700 this summer to use in a DC nforce-2 board, and they work beautifully.

ok, you have to have two of the same sticks of RAM to run dual channel mode, but you don't necessarily have to purchase them in a dual channel memory kit. its just more of a guarantee that they will work in dual channel mode if you buy them that way. if you don't pruchase ram in a kit, just make sure you order two of the same sticks. for instance, you can't use a 256MB and a 512MB together and expect them to run in dual channel mode. some other things they must have in common besides size is clock speed, type of chips it they use, and type (double-sided or single-sided).

Over on another forum people run wildly different memory sticks (same rating, ex. ddr 400) successfully in dual channel but I don't know what their memory bandwidths are like. I have to sticks of buffalo 3200 which I didn't buy in a kit and they are so great.
