If you don't have a Venice or San Diego core, 1GBx2 would be desirable, since Clawhammer/Newcastle/Winchester core processor can't run 4 sticks of RAM at 400mhz like it's supposed to. It automatically downclocks them to 333mhz.
Is this quote true? Right now I've got the WinFast NF4UK8AA motherboard with 2x512MB Corsair XMS running in dual channel mode, and a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester. If I get 2 more sticks of this exact same stuff, it will take it all down to 333MHz? Even if it does, will I still see a big performance increase in gaming and office applications by using the 4x512 sticks?
Any info is appreciated, thanks.
