1) Did I make a mistake by purchasing a 1GB dual channel kit with the plan to buy another in the near future to get to 2GB. I have heard that it wont run as fast with 4 sticks compared to 2 x 1gb, this doesent seem right to me though.

2) EPOX 9NPA+ SLI and opteron 165. Before buying the heatsink I thought I would ask what someone else with this setup is able to fit on there. I like the scythe ninja and the xp-120, both of which are large.

Thanks for the help.

I don't have that motherboard but i can say the xp-90 will probably fit, it's really good and much smaller than its big brother the xp-120

I have your same exact setup but with an evga mobo and I can tell you that the "myths" about xp90's not fitting are total BS. The thing is the same EXACT size as the stock AMD HSF. Well I haven't measured... but it it fits with ****** tons of room in my cramped p180 case.

two sticks are better than four if you are a performance freak

But if you don't want to squeeze every drop of performance out of your sticks, then 4 sticks is fine for stock timings.

If you have the new 4 pipe heatsink w/ 80mm fan that comes with the new AMD processors, you might want to give it a whirl. It has been shown to surpass the XP-90 in cooling.

4 sticks will mean running at 2T instead of 1T, which is no real disaster. You will incur a 1-3% performance hit.
