Will any modern motherboard support dual channel DDR SDRAM or RDRAM? Can I use any DDR SDRAM DIMM for dual channel? Or what do I need for dual channel DDR SDRAM?

i believe the nforce2 motherboards support the dual channel ddr.

i think the only requirement is that both sticks have to be single-sided, OR both sticks have to be double-sided. so no mixing single and double sided sticks.

Intel's Granite Bay and Canterwood support Dual Channel DDR, while on AMD platforms, nVidia's nForce2 makes use of it as well. I THINK SiS makes Intel boards that support dual channel as well.

SDR, DDR, and RDRAM use all different pin counts, and they do not work with each other. I remember ECS having a chipset/board that supports both DDR and SDR on boards, but you must have one type or the other, Not both in at the same time.

Since Intel has dropped RDRam support, DDR is now the standard for both AMD and Intel platforms. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I do recall hearing RDRam supported (or even requiring to even run) dual channel as well. SDR Memory never had such support.

Most DDR memory would work in dual channel configuration, as long as they meet several requirements, such as you must have 2 sticks of memory, both same size (and perferably same brand), same chip layout (single-sided/dual sided), and perferably same memory speeds.

Hope this helped. Feel free to ask anymore questions.

For AMD: Nforce 2

For Intel: SiS 655, Granite Bay, and Canterwood

All you need for dual channel DDR is two sticks of DDR memory, preferably identical :)

The original nForce also supports Dual-Channel DDR, but the nForce2 implements it much better.
