Dual Channel DDR Question - non-identical pairs?

I've got a 512MB stick of Samsung (genuine) PC3200 (400MHz) in my system. I just recently got a new motherboard which supports dual-channel DDR. My current stick has CL2.5. I'm looking at buying another stick of ram, but don't necessarily want to pay the price for another Samsung chip. If I were to buy a 512MB stick of Kingston PC3200, but with CL3, would the two chips operate in dual-channel mode without problems? Is there a performance loss I'd see with this configuration?

The basic question is this: can two sticks of memory with the same size and speed operate in dual-channel mode if their CAS Latency differs?

Thanks for any info or experiences you may have had.

You never know but I would say no. Dual channel can be very picky. I wouldn't chance it.
