So I found out there was a misprint in my motherboard manual and I've had my memory in the wrong way, so I ran some bench marks to see how big of a difference it makes.

3GB, non-dual channel, 2x1GB + 2x512MB:
3DMARK05: 6870
HL2 Stress test: 122.58, 122.18 (fps)
FEAR: 38-68-141, 38-68-145 (min-avg-max fps)

3GB, dual channel mode:
3DMARK05: 6989 (+1.73%)
HL2 Stress test: 126.56, 125.96 (+3.24%)
FEAR: 41-69-142, 42-69-143 (+1.47%)

Having heard that 2 sets of dual channel is actually slower than 1, I decided to take out the 2GB and try just 1GB dual-channel:
3DMARK05: 7051 (+2.63%)
HL2: 130.04, 130.34 (+6.33%)
FEAR: 39-69-143 (+1.47%)

Naturally the next step was to try 2gb (2x1GB) in dual channel:
3DMARK05: 7055 (+2.69%)
HL2: 132.40, 132.14 (+8.01%)
FEAR: 42-70-142, 42-70-143 (+2.94%)

So more isn't always better. If you have 2x1GB dual channel, an upgrade might actually slow you down. I just thought I'd share that discovery with you.

No big surprise here, it's probably running at 2T versus 1T when you've got all 4 banks of memory populated.

I didn't mess with any of the memory settings in the bios, but now that you say that, I've checked, and it was set to 2T. I changed it to 1T, and it didn't really make any difference:

2GB Dual Channel 1T: (%'s compared to 2GB DC 2T setting)
3DMARK05: 7051 (-0.06%)
HL2: 133.34, 133.35 (+0.72%)
FEAR: 41-69-145, 41-70-145 (+0%)
