Dual channel and Single Channel?

I plan on buying 2x256 ddr and put it in my system so I can use dual channel. I already have 1x512 in there. I have 4 avaliable slots (Asus P4P8x) Can I use the 2x256 in slots 1 & 3 for dual channel adn at hte same time use my 1x512 in slot 3? Thanks.

No you can't. Best thing to do is get another 512 slab that matches the one you have and use those 2 to run Dual Ch.

Thanks, I was getting 2x256 pc3200 to prepare my system for a cpu upgrade in the future...looks like i'll just have to stick with 2x256 and sell off the 1x512 at pc2700.
