Dual Celerons with no fans, just heatsinks?

Do celerons really need a fan in addition to the heatsink? They are FC-PGA 466Mhz, and they've got two horribly noisy fans on them right now. I think theyre Alpha brand heatsink/fan, need to check. The computer sits in our living room and is meant to play DVD's and hopefully soon to function as a TiVo as well. But the noise is unbearable to leave it on all the time. I would like to spend as little money as possible... and if removing the fans is possible, Id prefer that. If this is only possible with particular heatsinks, or there are better alternatives, Id like to know as well.
Thanks!

Actually, they are PPGA. FC-PGA is 533A and up. I wouldn't use a dual anything where noise was a concern, but you have the setup so.... See if your mobo will work with Speedfan. It can vary the RPM of your fans based on temp readings, or just make them run @ a fixed slower speed. What mobo do you have?

According to the Speedfan web site, the BP6 is supported. As long as your CPU fans are connected to mobo fan headers, you can adjust the RPM of the fans. Give it a shot!
