Dual Boxing: WoW

So my friends informed me of the new expansion for WoW.. and
i had previously dual boxxed on eq Progression server with
a mage/wizzy combo.. (very deadly).. so what I wanted to know is
if anyone has any experience with playing wow and if so.. what if any
macro's do they use?? or is there a good macro site for WoW??

I've been looking on my own and haven't found anything that informative yet..

What does dual boxing and using macros have to do with each other?
As far as macro's they vary by class and depending on what you want to do. With the last couple of patches many popular macros have been blocked and no longer work.
I would check the official wow UI/Macro forums.

in eq.. i just used my desktop and laptop.. and the desktop was the main..
but i've been doing some reading.. and im thinking about using this program

Radmin

and i was thinking of using that and then dual boxing with a warlock/mage combo
or a preist/rogue combo..

i dunno i just want to get suggestions and such...

What does dual boxing and using macros have to do with each other?

because i use both i dual box and i run macros to shorten my toons reactions to a couple button clicks...

and also i've check the offical site and im reading it as we speak.. but i wanted to know if someone knew of a website that has this info for various characters..

naa im not loooking for a program that issues commands for my toon.. i want a maco commands to shorten all my button clicking..

they changed macors in WoW a few patch ago, you can no longer make then do stuff for you

and if you use a program that lets you controll 2 toons from 1 comp you will be banned

how will i be banned.. all im doing is accessing whats on the desktop of my laptop from my main pc..
thats what the program above allows me to do.. so instead of needing 2 computers.. i just use one
and setup each in a window..

You don't need any program to run two accounts on one PC, you just fire the second right up. Depending on your PC it might work out well or might not - 2gb ram would really help out here. I used to play my friend's rogue in addition to my shaman sometimes, though my PC is old and could barely handle it. No music while I was 2boxing either - that would have really pwnt my fps.

As far as macros, can't help you out there from experience, but if you give an idea of what you're trying to do we could maybe suggest some addons. Addons are essentially macro collections with a user interface, after all.

but also.. i've been looking something to help make the bot a bit more automated.. but i guess i need to spend time reading up on macros.. and what do you mean by addons??

I've been playing since open beta, have been in several guilds, and while I know a few people who dual boxed at early levels, it isn't nearly as prevalent as it was in EQ.

I'm not sure if you've played WoW but it's way faster in terms of gameplay. You could probably get by on a PvE realm with outdoor leveling playing a healing class + something else, but in an instance you're going to be a liability with at least one of the characters simply because there's too much to do and not enough *legal* macros to make it easy. And on a PvP realm...forget about it. You'd be doing more corpse retrievals than anything.

There used to be a guy on Malygos realm that had dual boxed twin Warlocks. Everything about the two characters was identical, down to their gear. It was pretty amazing to watch him PvP with them, until he broke out his hunter triplets!! Lol, sending his 3 wolves off while all three would wind up an aimed shot and pretty much one shot the poor mage he marked. 🙂

I have no idea how he did it, he actually posted about his config once on the WoW forums, but it is probably long gone since the forum upgrades. Might be able to get some info about him on the Malygos realm forum. Far as I know he never got in any trouble from Blizz, but I haven't seen him in ages, no idea if he still plays.

i Actually JUST got done doing this...dual boxed a warrior and priest and hit lvl 60 with both last night ( names are romuluss and reemus on uldam server if anyone wants to say Hi )

I didnt use anything fancy other than basic follow macros then i had hotkeys to taget and heal my warrior and for assisting etc. I have two lcds side by side and just kinda paid attention on both screens, having a healer type and tanking type REALLY makes things very easy, in fact im thinking about 2 druids next....

yea thats exactly what i want to do.. only im more interested in trying a warlock/preist or rogue/preist or Warlock/Mage

haha.. i dunno which to choose.. i just installed and updated everything lastnite.. i just have to re-activate my account.. and setup a 2nd..
and 2 accounts isn't bad.. its only once a month fee anyways..

i keep reading that a rogue/preist combo is really sick.. any thoughts??

I'm more of a caster person though.. and warlock/mage seems dope too...
and ill be playing with friends so it shouldn't be hard to play if i choose casters
but i dunno any suggestions??

and also too.. i found a ui/macro that will automate the healing for ur preist.. but
im assuming that's illegal..

It depends on how it automates it... I mean, you can have it so a button simply targets a character and casts a certain rank of a heal (no auto-choosing ranks though). Also, the Logitech G15, which is 100% supported by WoW, can program macros into the keyboard.

Personally, I think it'd be easiest if you could have a character that can take crap and then one that can heal. I mean a priest and warlock could work, because you can always use a Voidwalker if need be. Although I found Voidwalkers pretty sucky at keeping aggro lol. Or you could use a hunter, but I'd highly recommend probably speccing Beast Mastery if you do that, or else your pet will never keep aggro off you (unless you wait awhile) if you spec Marksmanship.

Oh and a second account wouldn't be bad, Gdepp, but the problem is, I already have two that are currently being paid for. I play on a PVP server, so the only way to have Alliance and Horde is to have two separate accounts 🙁. Although I don't really play my Horde, my old roommates who play Horde keep trying to get me to join them in leveling.

well you don't need to level check your heals and buffs anymore as a recent patch already does that in the game client itself.

Myself, I could never get two copies of WOW to run at one time on the same computer. Do you need separate directories of WOW to do this?

What would happen is that the second copy would never draw the screen properly.

2gb system with a 256mb 7600gt video card backed by a 4200x2 should have been enough power

You can only have one of them active at once. The OP is using two machines to do it. For me, I'd alt-tab between two WoWs, which worked fine as I'd have my Night Elf Rogue help out my Undead Rogue 😛.

In a game like WoW it just seems like it would be so much easier and less complicated to level the characters separately. I know I would get pretty frustrated trying to manage 2 characters through zones like STV. Unless you really need 2 characters to 60/70 at once...
