Dual-booting Win2K and WinME

I realize this question has been asked before, and I apologize for repeating it, but I can't seem to track down any of the previous threads using the Search function.. 😱

My system currently has WinME installed with my hard drive formatted as a single FAT32 partition. Is is possible to simply install Win2K into a different directory on the existing file system and dual-boot with the two Operating Systems? If so, what is the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks for your help!

You don't *need* a separate partition for 2k, but it's a good idea. I have one machine with 98 and 2k on the same (only) partition without any problems (no obvious ones anyways), but I would've installed on a separate dive/part if I could have on that system.

A little more info if it makes a difference...

I am pretty impressed with Win2K, and would actually prefer to install it just by itself, but my wife doesn't like it, and she actually uses this computer more than I do, so I have to keep her happy. 😛

Once everything is configured and running smoothly in Win2K I plan to just wipe the WinME directories and have it boot solely to Win2K, so installing Win2K on the primary (currently the only) partition.

As long as Win2K will actually install on a FAT32 partition (NT4 won't) then this is probably what I will do, since I really don't want to go through the hassle of partitioning the drive over again--especially since I don't have any backup media capable of holding all of the 'keeper' stuff I have on that drive.

When I put 2000 on with 98 se it took only 2 weeks before my stopped using 98. 😉😛

If you have partition magic you can resize your current partition without damaging the info allready there.
